Setting Masters

Ring masters, setting discs and GO/NO GO plug masters in gagemaker's classes XX to Z, lapped to size. Every master ships with a long-form certificate traceable to NIST from an ISO/IEC 17025 lab.

Which master do you need?

To set or check Use Sizes
An air plug (bore gage) Ring gage master (RGM) .0901″ to 19.010″
An air ring or snap gage Master setting disc (SDL / SDS) .150″ to 14.510″
A bore, or an air plug's size Plug gage master: wire, taperlock or trilock (PGM) .015″ to 12.010″

How many?

Dual Master air gaging takes two masters, one at each end of the tolerance. Single Master takes one, at nominal; for best results, pick a size near the middle of the part tolerance.

Classes and certification

Masters are made to gagemaker's classes XX, X, Y and Z; we supply Class XX unless you specify otherwise. Every master ships with a long-form certificate of calibration showing the actual measured size, traceable to NIST, from a temperature-controlled lab conforming to ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1.

Questions

Can I order a master without the gage?

Yes. Masters are priced on their own in the online configurator, and you can add them to a quote with tooling.

Do you make metric masters?

Yes. Add -MM to the part number for metric sizes.

Which material should I choose?

Steel is standard. Chrome resists wear and corrosion; carbide ring masters are quoted on request for the longest life.
