- Dual Master or Single Master tooling
Master setting discs set air rings, snap gages and ring gages. They are lapped and polished, in steel or chrome, from .150″ to 14.510″ (3.81 to 368.55 mm).
Two styles
| Code | ANSI B47.1 style | Use |
|---|---|---|
| SDL | Style 1, full length | Longer disc, for gages set in a fixture or by hand |
| SDS | Style 3, short | Shorter disc, and usually the lowest cost |
Disc length grows with size, from 7/8″ (SDL) or 7/16″ (SDS) on the smallest discs to 2″ and 1″ above 2.010″.
How to order
SDL or SDS – class – material – size. Class XX or X, material S (steel) or C (chrome). Add -MM for metric sizes. Example: SDS-XX-C-.7500.
Certification
Every master ships with a long-form certificate of calibration showing the actual measured size, traceable to NIST. Calibration is done in a temperature-controlled lab conforming to ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1.
How many masters?
Dual Master air gaging takes two masters, one at each end of the tolerance. Single Master takes one, at nominal. For best results with a single master, pick a size near the middle of the part tolerance.
