Air Snap Gages

C-frame air snap gages (air snap gauges) from .60" to 7.81" (15.2 to 198.3 mm) measure a shaft from the side, so the part can stay on the grinder or between centers. Non-contact, fast and repeatable.

Why a snap gage

  • In-process grinding: check size without taking the part out of the machine
  • Long shafts: no need to slide a ring the length of the part
  • Shouldered diameters: a shoulder-jet (ACS) gage reads close to the face
  • Several diameters at once: multi-channel gages are built to order

How it is built

Two opposed jets in the throat read the diameter without touching the part. Carbide back stops locate the shaft, and Kevlar-reinforced nylon bumpers keep the frame from marking a finished surface. Each gage ships with a hose assembly to suit your readout.

Getting a quote

Snap gages are quoted by our team rather than the online configurator. Email info@airgaging.com with the shaft size and tolerance, any nearby shoulders or grooves, your readout make and model, and quantity. We'll quote the gage, setting discs and hose together.

Dual Master or Single Master?

Dual Master tooling is set with two masters, one at each end of the tolerance, and works with any two-master readout. Single Master tooling is set on one master at nominal and is matched to a single-master readout, such as the Air Gage Pro M5-L or M5-H that replaces Dimensionair readouts. Compare single and dual master.
