A single master air gage is set with one master ring or plug at the nominal size. Readings above and below nominal come from the matched sensitivity of the readout and the air tooling, so setup is fast and you only buy and certify one master per size.
We build single master air gage stations, the Air Gage Pro M5-L and M5-H, and the single master air plugs and rings that run on them. They also run the single master tooling you already own from Dimensionair, Federal and Western Gage systems.

How a single master air gage works
The operator zeroes the gage on one master at nominal. The readout's amplification and the tooling's jets are matched at the factory, so the gage reads correctly above and below the master without a second setting. That matching is why single master tooling is identified by amplification (low or high) and tool code, and why it must be run on a readout of the same amplification.
Single master vs. dual master
| Single master | Dual master | |
|---|---|---|
| Masters per size | One, at nominal | Two, at the low and high limits |
| Setup | Fast: zero on one master | Slower: zero and span adjusted each time |
| Most accurate | Near nominal | At the tolerance limits |
| Tooling and readout | Must match in amplification | Any brand of two-master tooling |
| Master cost | Lower, one master to certify | Higher, two masters to certify |
| Good fit for | High-volume production near nominal | Wide spans, mixed tooling, go/no-go at the limits |

Low amp or high amp?
Single master tooling comes in two families that don't interchange. Match your tooling to the right Air Gage Pro:
| Your tooling or readout | Amplification | Air Gage Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Dimensionair D-2500, D-4000, D-5000, D-8000 (Tool Code 20 or 50) Federal EAG-31xxx and EAG-32xxx columns Western Gage Series 60 (63, 64) |
Low 2,500:1 to 8,000:1 |
M5-L single master, low amp 1 input $2,895 · 2 inputs $3,595 |
| Dimensionair D-10000, D-16000, D-20000, D-32000 (Tool Code 5 or 10) Federal EAG-33xxx and EAG-34xxx columns Western Gage Series 70 |
High 10,000:1 to 32,000:1 |
M5-H single master, high amp 1 input $2,895 · 2 inputs $3,595 |

FAQ
What is a single master air gage?
An air gage set with one master at the nominal size. Readings above and below nominal rely on the matched amplification of the readout and the air tooling, so only one master is needed per size.
What is the difference between single master and dual master air gaging?
Single master gages are zeroed on one master and are most accurate near nominal; setup is fast and masters cost less. Dual master gages are set on a low and a high master, so the span is calibrated at the tolerance limits, and they run two-master tooling of any brand.
Can I use my Dimensionair single master tooling on a digital readout?
Yes. The Air Gage Pro M5-L runs low-amp tooling (Tool Code 20 or 50) and the M5-H runs high-amp tooling (Tool Code 5 or 10), with your existing plugs, rings and masters.
How much does a single master air gage cost?
An Air Gage Pro M5-L or M5-H station is $2,895 for 1 input or $3,595 for 2 inputs, complete with filter-regulator. Single master air plugs, rings and masters are priced by size in our online quote tool.
Can low-amp and high-amp single master tooling be mixed?
No. Low- and high-amplification tooling are built to different sensitivities, so each must run on a readout of the same amplification.
